RFK Jr. Announces Independent Bid for Presidency
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced his independent bid for the U.S. presidency in the 2024 election on October 9 in Philadelphia to an animated crowd just two blocks away from Independence Hall, where both the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution were debated and adopted.
“Today, we turn a new page in American politics. There have been independent candidates in this country before, but this time it’s going to be different. Because this time, the independent is gonna win,” Kennedy said.
Pledging to unite the country against the "unitary," Kennedy rejected partisan politics in his messaging and his platform, noting his diverse crowd and supporters include "both pro-lifers and pro-choicers,” "climate activists and climate skeptics," and even "the vaccinated and unvaccinated.”
Decrying the lack of vibrant options for the presidency among the leaders of either party, Kennedy remarked, "That’s what two-party politics has given us, and that’s why we need to pry loose from the hammerlock of the corrupt powers in Washington, DC, and make this nation ours again.”

According to an October 6 poll conducted by Ipsos and Reuters, President Joe Biden, former president Donald Trump, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in a three-way race polled at 31%, 33%, and 14% respectively. This puts Kennedy within striking distance of the presidency if he is able to make steady progress each month in the polls and gains 50 state ballot access, which he hopes to achieve by hosting events around the country as he ramps up his historic, independent run for president of the United States.
