RFK Jr. on Corruption, Censorship and the Hunter Biden Coverup

In a presidential town hall hosted by Fox host Sean Hannity in New York City on July 25, 2023, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. discusses Twitter’s censorship of the Hunter Biden laptop story, the weaponization of the executive agencies within the federal government and corruption within the FBI leading to such censorship, and how he would respond to these issues. Earlier that month, a federal judge issued an injunction against the Biden administration, limiting its contact with social media companies and mentioning its censorship of Kennedy several times. Likewise, by this point, numerous Twitter officials have testified to Congress, confirming that Twitter erred in its decision to censor the Hunter Biden story, which turned out to be true. Congress is in the process of conducting hearings and investigations into President Joe Biden’s involvement in Hunter’s illegal overseas affairs.

Key Talking Points

  • Prosecutors refused to prosecute Hillary Clinton or raid her residence despite her mishandling of classified information.
  • In December, 2019, the FBI possessed Hunter Biden’s laptop and verified its authenticity.
  • Despite the FBI authenticating Hunter’s laptop, Yoel Roth, the head of site integrity for Twitter at the time, revealed in a testimony that Twitter refused to let users access the story on the basis of it being about Hunter.
  • The federal government, through the FBI, influenced the outcome of the 2020 election by demanding big tech companies censor the crucial story.
  • If elected, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. would sign an executive order on day one forbidding such censorship and ending the weaponization of federal agencies for political purposes.
  • The weaponization of the executive branch is the worst it has ever been.
  • Such abuse of power sets a dangerous precedent which will cause a back and forth trend in which whichever party holds power at any given time will abuse their power and weaponize its agencies to go after the opposing party.
  • Corruption crosses party lines and both major parties have proven that they are willing to abuse the immense power of the executive branch.
  • In the injunction issued by District Court Judge Terry Doughty limiting the Biden administration’s contact with social media companies, Kennedy’s name appears numerous times.
  • Kennedy was the first individual to be censored by the Biden administration, which ordered Twitter to censor him hours after Biden’s inauguration. Three weeks later, Kennedy’s Instagram account was deactivated.

Key Data and Evidence Points

  • According to IRS supervisory agent Gary Shapley, who testified to Congress on May 26, 2023, the FBI verified the authenticity of Hunter’s laptop “in November of 2019 by matching the device number against Hunter Biden’s Apple iCloud ID.”
  • Despite most news outlets initially ignoring the contents of the laptop, Shapley explained that “when the FBI took possession of the device in December 2019, they notified the IRS that it likely contained evidence of tax crimes.”
  • In his testimonial statement to the House Oversight Committee, Yoel Roth explained, “Twitter made a mistake…in my judgment at the time, Twitter should not have taken action to block the New York Post’s reporting…Twitter erred in this case because we wanted to avoid repeating the mistakes of 2016.”
  • On February 10, 2021, Kennedy was banned from Instagram for posting “misinformation about vaccine safety and COVID-19.”
  • On July 4, 2023, District Court Judge Terry Doughty issued an injunction against the Biden administration, barring it from colluding with social media companies to censor certain viewpoints. The judge alleged that this censorship likely violated the First Amendment.
  • In the injunction, Doughty cites past efforts to suppress and delete content from Kennedy.
